Wayne Krentz

BASSETT, Neb. — Wayne Krentz, 67, Bassett, formerly of Doland, S.D., died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, in a hospital at Bassett.

Funeral services were Dec. 26 in the St. Peter Lutheran Church at Bassett with the Revs. Nancy Nyland and Ed Vesser officiating.

Burial was in the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rick Hoftiezer, Warren Jackson, Doug Stanton, Timothy Fischback, Jeffry Scheider and Steven Krentz.

Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett was in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 25, 1940, in Huron, S.D., to Homer and Pearl Krentz. He grew up on a farm near Doland and graduated from Doland High School in 1957. He attended Northern State College and graduated in 1966 and later received his master’s degree. He taught school and coached in Henry and Bristol, S.D., and Bassett.

He married Rita Coyle April 27, 1968.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; children, Jodi Weander of Valentine, Scott (Cindy) Krentz of Stanton and Brian Krentz and Kellie (Doug) Stanton of Bassett; his brother, Bruce (Marilyn) Krentz of Wagner, S.D.; his sister, Carol Stellner of Aberdeen, S.D.; his sister-in-law, Sandy (Veryl) Hoftiezer; his brother-in-law, Steve (Bernie) Coyle; and his mother-in-law Doris Coyle of Watertown, S.D.
