Funeral
services were held recently in Nebraska for
Wayne Krentz former high school coach and teacher at Henry High
School. Wayne
was the son-in-law of former resident, Doris Coyle.
Terry
and Judy Kos attended the Pepsi High School classic at the Barnett
Center on the campus of Northern State University
last Saturday. In the evening they
watched the Milbank Bulldogs play the Langford Loins. The Bulldogs are coached by Matt Bastian, son
of Ron and Peggy Bastian. Ron, Eric and Emily Bastian and Kayla Parsons were also in attendance.
Christmas
week visitors at the Ken and Sally Luvaas home were
Mark and Jessica Luvaas and daughters, Madelynn and Megan of Lennox. Madelynn
and Grandma Sally spent a day making Christmas cookies. Addition guests at the Luvaas
home were Russell Luvaas, Cate
Baumberger and Lauretta Luvaas.
Arlen
and Joan Boehnke enjoyed supper out in Henry for New
Year’s Eve with several other couples.
The
Geiger family had their Christmas last Saturday at the Henry Community Center. Those in attendance were Monty and Jackie
Geiger and Ashley from Faulkton, Earl and Alyssa Rhody
and Tierra from Clear Lake, Christopher Purintun,
Amber and Joshua from DeSmet, Fain and Roxanne
Geiger, Lynn Geiger, Chad and Lisa Purintun, Anthony,
Kellie and Matthew, Kelby and Toni Goodall, Hayley and Travis. The
day was spent eating and playing bingo. Gifts were exchanged. Hosts for the
event were Marrion and LeDene Geiger.
Lola
Nelson traveled to Sioux Falls early Wednesday
morning so that her daughter, Jessica and grandchildren, Naomi and Carter could
catch an early morning flight back to their home in North Carolina. Jessica and children were back
visiting for two weeks over the Christmas and New Year holidays. The family caught their flight with time to
spare and had a safe trip home. Jessica
reported that the flight from Chicago to Raleigh was turbulent but
she said it still beats driving that far.
Jessica will be back with the family sometime near the end of January. The
family plans to drive back while her husband, James is home for a few weeks on
R&R from serving with the US Army in Iraq.
Fain
and Roxanne Geiger and Kelby and Toni Goodall, Hayley and Travis
enjoyed supper in Henry on New Year’s Eve.
Barb Hartley and Arlen and Joan Boehnke spent the last weekend in Madison,
Wisconsin attending a surprise birthday party
for their cousin Randy Seiler of Wrightstown,
WI, and having a “cousins”
reunion. Also attending from this area
were Dave and Annette Boehnke of Clark, Terry Boehnke of Watertown, and
Carol Wiedebush of Mansfield.
Arlen
and Joan Boehnke attended a couples potluck supper
and court whist party Saturday evening at the Henry Community Center.
The
family of Floyd and Donna Kittelson celebrated their Christmas last
Saturday. Those enjoying dinner and
supper at the Kittelson home were Rick and Vickie Burchatz
and family, Meghan Buhler, Bryan and Cindy
Wientjes and family all of Watertown, Collin
Wientjes of Hinton, IA,
David and Jackie McNeil and family of Warner, Mike and Cheryl Hovde and family, Vienna and
Tom and Kathy Wookey and family of Clark.
The McNeil family and Maggie Hovde were also
overnight guests.
Mark
and Arlet Soderlund enjoyed
their son, Chris and granddaughter, Tabatha spending the holidays with them at
their home.
The
Bastian family celebrated their Christmas on New Year’s Eve with their annual
gift exchange and dinner. Those in
attendance were Eric Bastian and Kayla Parsons of Black
Hills State University, Emily Bastian, home from Dakota Wesleyan
University at Mitchell,
Matt and Missy Bastian of Milbank, Clay Bastian and Amy Pearce and Virgil
Bastian.
Cody
and Sara Winnett of St. Peter, MN
were home for Christmas and New Years. They enjoyed Christmas at the Charlie
and Nikki Heustess home in Watertown along with, Shaina
and Issabelle Winnett, Lynore Calder and Dale and Teresa Peterson.
Donna
Prouty and children were New Year’s Day visitors at
the Ron and Peggy Bastian home.
Wendell
and Alice Bruns went to Lake Preston
Friday after school and Erin Bruns retuned home with
them. Samantha Bruns
of Watertown spent Saturday afternoon at the Bruns home and enjoyed playing with Erin.
Later in the day Shannon, Donna and Sarah Bruns of Watertown came to the Bruns home and were supper guests.
Those
enjoying a pizza party and other hors d’oerves New
Year’s Eve at the Arlen Swedeen home were Bill
Pickles and Deanna Martwick, and LeRay
and Andrea Swedeen and girls.
Dave
and Jackie McNeil and family of Warner were Friday overnight guests at the
Floyd and Donna Kittelson home and attended the Watertown/
Yankton basketball game in Watertown.
Cindy Wientjes along with Floyd and Donna Kittelson also attended the game.
Jerry
and Tammy Bludorn, Jaclyn and Jamie and Steve and
Cindy Anderson, Amy, Josh and Emma were New Year’s Day dinner guests at the
Dale and Ruth Bludorn home.
Fain
and Roxanne Geiger and Alyssa and Tierra Rhody of
Clear Lake went to Miller on Friday evening and helped Roxanne’s parents, Louis
and Mardella Gortmaker
celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
New
Years weekend guests at the Ken Luvaas home were
Jessica Luvaas and girls and Russell Luvaas of Lennox. John Luvaas and
son, J.J. drove from Milwaukee, WI to spend a few days visiting with friends
and relatives. On Friday, Ken joined them and visited Lauretta
Luvaas and also visited Lois Stern, Martha Mitchell
and Levi Luvaas all of Clark.
On Sunday John, J.J. and Ken Luvaas visited Richard
and Esther Bjerke at their rural Crocker home.
Weekend visitors at the Luvaas home were Clarence and
Dorothy Lundholm of Bradley and Leif and Barb
Erickson of Watertown. John Luvaas
returned to his home New Year’s Eve and reported good roads all the way.
Kayla
Parsons returned to her parent’s home in Phillip after spending several days at
the Ron and Peggy Bastian home.
Sunday
visitors at the Joe and Elsie Young home were Travis and Jody Young and Kathy
Young of Watertown. Visitors during the week included Roger
Young, Watertown
and Doug Schoepp.
Myron
and Diane Eidsness, Laura and Kailey
Eidsness along with Darlene Audus
of Clark spent Friday and Saturday in Aberdeen
and attended the Queen’s Banquet and coronation of 2008 Jr. Snow Queen. The coronation was held on Saturday evening
and Kailey was a participant. They also visited
Diane’s aunt, Delores Hales while in Aberdeen.
Hayley Goodall spent Saturday morning with
her grandparents, Fain and Roxanne Geiger.
Tim,
Lori and Austin Page spent New Year’s Day and were supper guests at the Brett
and April Flemming home at Aurora.
Cody,
David and Emily Winnett of St. Peter, MN
spent last Sunday at the Dale Peterson home and were also supper guests.
Fain
and Roxanne Geiger visited Ken and Sally Luvaas on
Saturday evening.
Wendell
Bruns visited his mother, Violet Winemiller
at the Golden Living
Center in Clark
on Thursday morning.
John
Boehnke returned to his parents’ home Sunday evening
and will be spending a few more days before returning to his athletic training
duties at SDSU. He was able to accompany
the SDSU men’s basketball team to California
over Christmas break.
Fain
and Roxanne Geiger were Sunday morning breakfast guests at the home of Kelby and Toni Goodall and
family.
Alice
Bruns visited her sister, Lona
Johnson Friday morning at the Jenkins home in Watertown.
Issabelle Winnett spent New Year’s Eve at the
Dale and Teresa Peterson home.
Eric
Bastian spent from Thursday until Saturday at the Matt and Missy Bastian home
in Milbank. On Saturday, he accompanied the Milbank Bulldogs to Lennox where there the Bulldogs took on the Lennox
Orioles. Ron and Emily Bastian also
attended the basketball game and Eric returned to Henry with them.
April
and Brynn Flemming were
Friday overnight guests at the Tim and Lori Page home.
Tracy
and Mary Upton of Milbank, Kathy Young of Watertown
and Jennifer and Tess Johnson were Sunday visitors at the Ron and Peggy Bastian
home.
LaDawn Koustrup has recently moved into
Henry. LaDawn operates a contracting business.
Calvin
and Lois Schoepp enjoyed Sunday dinner out with Bill
and Pat Moe of Watertown. Later the Schoepps
visited Eleanor Van Sickle at her Watertown
home.
Monty
and Marcia Montgomery were among those from Henry attending the ECC girl’s
basketball tournament games in Waverly and Wilmot this past week. This week the
boy’s tournament will begin with Henry taking on Waverly-South Shore
in the second game Thursday evening. This tournament will be in Henry.
Vickie
Burchatz and Floyd and Donna Kittelson watched Dawson
McNeil play basketball on Saturday in the Boys and Girls Club Interstate
Tourney in Watertown.
Dawson’s
parents, Dave and Jackie McNeil were also in attendance. Floyd and Donna Kittelson treated them to
dinner following the games.
Elenor Nuttbrock of Watertown,
Donnie Solum of Tea and Fred and Mary Kay Black of Florence were Wednesday
visitors at the Dale and Ruth Bludorn home.
