Henry News – October 15, 2007

 

 

The Henry United Methodist Women met on Wednesday evening at the Clark home of Roma Rawlins. There were nine members present for the meeting.  Judy Kos gave the lesson entitled, “Missing in Action.” The ladies discussed the recently held 125th anniversary. Plans were made for the annual donations to the Watertown Women’s Resource Center made annually by each of the ladies and the annual donations to area charities. The November meeting will be held at the home of Alice Bruns.

 

Terry and Judy Kos were Sunday dinner guests at the Bret and Karen Henricks home, rural Waverly. Additional guests were Brian and Kathy DeJong and family of Watertown.  The families celebrated Kathy’s birthday.

 

Sharon Burchatz spent several days this past week in Gregory, SD helping set up a hunting lodge.

 

Floyd and Donna Kittelson treated Bryan and Cindy Wientjes and Rick and Vicky Burchatz to supper out on Tuesday evening. The families were observing the Burchatz’ 25th wedding anniversary.

 

Joan and Stephanie Boehnke stayed overnight in Yankton Friday evening, and then took in the USD “Dakota Days” parade and football game on Saturday in Vermillion.  After the ball game, Joan stopped in Brookings on her way home and treated John Boehnke to supper out.

 

Hayley and Travis Goodall were Friday evening visitors at the home of their grandparents, Fain and Roxanne Geiger.

 

Danny and Bonita Sharp were Sunday dinner guests at the Joe and Nicole Sharp home.

 

Cokey Johnson visited Milton and Benita Lakness at their rural Hayti home on Sunday afternoon.  Later she called on her mother, Agnes Opdahl in Hayti.

 

Lois Schoepp called on Lola Alexander at Wookey’s Assistant Living in Clark on Friday afternoon.

 

Donna Kittelson visited Jean Strohfus at the Hi-Rise in Watertown on Thursday evening. Later Donna and Jean called on Danny Brimus, also in the Hi Rise.

 

Sunday afternoon Kailey Eidsness attended the Snow Queen Tea at Rotell’s in Clark along with Diane Eidsness and Darlene Audus.  Kailey is one of the Jr. Snow Queen contestants in Clark on November 10th at 7:30 p.m.

 

Sunday evening, Joan Boehnke attended the Courier Classics 4-H Club meeting in Clark.  Joan is the club leader.

 

Dave and Jackie McNeil of Warner and Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended the Watertown Arrow and Yankton Bucks football game Friday evening. The McNeils were overnight guests at the Kittelson home.

 

Several Henry people attended the visitation and funeral services in Watertown on Wednesday for Morris Van Sickle.

 

Ken and Sally Luvaas and Fain and Roxanne Geiger enjoyed supper out in Watertown Friday evening.

 

Arlen Swedeen underwent heart bypass surgery this past week at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.

 

Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended memorial services for Jack Berens at Milbank on Saturday.

 

Jean Lian of Garden City called on Joe and Elsie Young on Wednesday.

 

Alice Bruns drove to Lake Preston Friday and picked up her granddaughter, Erin Bruns. From Lake Preston they went on to Mitchell where they treated Erin’s sister, Amber Bruns to supper and enjoyed a short visit. Later Alice and Erin drove to Murdo and spent the weekend with Alice’s sister, Ora Kent. They returned home on Sunday.

 

Travis and Haylie Jo Young of Watertown visited at the Joe and Elsie Young home on Saturday afternoon.
