Stephanie Pickrel and a hunting party had the pleasure of hunting grouse in the western part of the state with Tony Dean of the Great Outdoors and later dining with Tony Dean and his wife.

 

Arlen and Joan Boehnke went to Brookings Saturday for the Beef Bowl Barbeque and the SDSU football game.  It was “Scholarship Recognition Day” and John Boehnke was among those recognized.  Stephanie Boehnke came up from USD to join her family.

 

Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended the Clark/Hamlin volleyball game at the Hamlin Education Center on Tuesday evening.

 

Sharon Burchatz was a recent caller at the Chad and Tina Lammer’s home and helped Sandra Schaack celebrate her birthday.

 

Monday Fain and Roxanne Geiger attended the volleyball game in Clark to watch their granddaughter, Tierra Rhody of Clear Lake play.  During the game Tierra had the misfortune of fracturing her ankle and is out for the season.

 

Barb Hartley, Jenna Hartley, and Laci, Aubrie and Tate Hartley spent Thursday and Friday nights in Belle Fouche.  The attended the Thursday rehearsal and Friday afternoon wedding of Abby Monnens and Jay Olson at Indian springs Park in Spearfish and the reception and dance following in Belle Fourche.  En route home Saturday they visited at the home of Kevin and Wanda Redlin in Piedmont.

 

Fain and Roxanne Geiger, Kelby and Toni Goodall and family enjoyed supper out in Henry Thursday evening.

 

Donna Kittelson called on Cokey Johnson at the Prairie Lakes Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Lois Schoepp was among those having supper in Henry Thursday evening and help Barb Dalton celebrate her birthday.

 

Rick and Vicky Burchatz enjoyed watching their son, Jordan and the Watertown Arrows win their KiYi Homecoming game Friday evening. On Thursday evening Rick was cheerleader in a skit with other gentlemen at the burning of the W.

 

Arlen and Joan Boehnke helped Rachel Blue celebrate her birthday Sunday afternoon at the Doug and PJ Blue’s home.

 

Henry fans enjoyed watching an exciting football game on Friday evening at Florence against Great Plains Lutheran. Florence-Henry Flying Owls were victorious in the overtime win which was part of Florence’s homecoming festivities.

 

Janice Sharp, Ann Sigelman and Polly Loken of Watertown and Carol O’Neill enjoyed a luncheon at the rural Watertown home of Lynn Sharp Wednesday in remembrance of Janice’s birthday.

 

Donna Kittelson accompanied Vickie Burchatz to the Powder Puff football game and the burning of the W on Thursday evening at the Watertown stadium in conjunction with KiYi Days.

 

Word was received Saturday of the death of Charles W. Elrod. Mr. Elrod was a 1927 graduate of Henry High School. Following graduation he remained with his parents on the farm until 1935 when he was united in marriage to Mabel Barnum. The Elrods lived in several communities before owning and operating Elrod Insulation in Sioux Falls.  In 1964 they became the owners of Johnson Cleaners, retiring in 1997.  Mrs. Elrod passed away in 1999. Mr. Elrod is survived by two sons, two daughters and two sisters and several other relatives and friends.

 

Ron and Ross Burchatz spent the weekend at Whitlock Bay near Gettysburg this weekend.

 

Wes and Betty Holida called on Arlen Swedeen Saturday evening.

 

Saturday, Linda Page and Helen Van Sickle of Watertown and Marcia and Sarah Montgomery attended the Ingathering for World Hunger at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell. They enjoyed visiting and were overnight guests of Mary Dikoff and family.

 

Danny and Bonita Sharp were supper guests at the late Arlene Keyes lake home on Tuesday evening. Additional guests were Larry and Sandy Keyes, rural Watertown, Marcia Hammer of Graceville, MN, Tom and Vickie Poston, Fayetteville, NC and Bob Gergen, Clark.

 

Travis and Hanley Goodall spent Saturday morning with their grandparents, Fain and Roxanne Geiger.  In the afternoon Hayley went shopping with her grandparents.

 

Lola Schoepp called on her sister, Lola Alexander at Wookey’s Assistant Living in Clark on Sunday afternoon.

 

Fain and Roxanne Geiger were Sunday afternoon callers at the Ken and Sally Luvaas home.

 

Kevin and Laurie Bender spent the weekend in Stickney and attended the wedding of a Vo-Tech classmate of Kevin.

 

Spencer and Hunter Wientjes spent Friday with Donna Kittelson and later in the day, they along with Vickie Burchatz, watched the Watertown Homecoming parade. In the evening Floyd and Donna attended the Watertown Arrow football game against Aberdeen Central.

 

Arlen Swedeen was a Sunday evening visitor at the LeRay Swedeen home.

 

Several people have moved into Henry recently including Joe and Travis Strofhus now occupying the mobile home formerly owned by Doris Coyle, Tyler Waldner, into the trailer park, Jon Schliesman into the house owned by Grant Nelson and Joe Nord into the house known to many as the Lee Brownell home.
