Henry News – May 21, 2007
The
2006-2007 school year concluded on Friday, May 25th . The year end activities were held through out
the week with graduation bringing the year to a climax. Senior class members
held receptions at their homes and various places following the graduation
exercise.
Arlen,
Joan and John Boehnke hosted a pre-graduation
reception for Stephanie on Friday evening.
Several friends and relatives attended the reception that was held in
the Community Building.
Donna
Kittelson attended the Watertown Spring Chorus Concert at the DD Miller
auditorium on Monday evening. Kayla
and Jordan Burchatz participated in the concert.
Mark,
Madelynn and Megan Luvaas
and Russell Luvaas of Lennox
spent last weekend at the Ken and Sally Luvaas home.
On Sunday they assisted with maintenance at the Calvary Lutheran
Church in Bradley.
Russell Luvaas returned to Henry on Monday and on
Tuesday, Russell along with Ken Luvaas assisted in
the laying of carpet in the Bradley Church. The Mark Luvaas
family of Lennox and John Luvaas of Mequon, WI
returned to Henry on Tuesday evening and to attend funeral services for Glen Luvaas in Bradley. John Luvaas
returned to his Wisconsin
home on Thursday by motorcycle.
John
and Stephanie Boehnke joined Joan at Fordham Colony
Wednesday evening for the end-of-the-year picnic.
Gordon
and Loydeen Van Sickle attended the 80th
birthday party for Marie Dally in Watertown
on Saturday.
Rose
McElroy attended a birthday party for Mara McElroy on Saturday in Sioux Falls at the Dave
McElroy home.
Donna
Kittelson attended the Willow Lake Spring Concert on Tuesday evening and
enjoyed watching her grandchildren, Savanna and Zach Hovde.
Fain
and Roxanne Geiger called on Ken and Sally Luvaas
Wednesday evening.
Eevi Prahl and Rayne of Sioux Falls, and
Elizabeth Prahl and family of Murdo
and Shelly Peterson of Hartford
were among the friends and family attending Laura Eidsness’
graduation reception on Saturday at the Community Center.
Terry
and Judy Kos attended the confirmation services for their granddaughter,
Elizabeth Henricks at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church
in Watertown on
Sunday. Later they were dinner guests at the Bret and
Karen Henricks home. Additional guests were Brian and Kathy DeJong and family of Watertown,
Lyle and Bev Henricks and Alen
and Debbie Henricks and family, Jim and Cindy Gergen and family all of rural Waverly, Darren and Mercedes
Zemlicka, rural South
Shore, David and Charlotte Green, rural
Milbank, and Joanne and Teddy Berglund, South Shore.
Joan
and Stephanie Boehnke attended the graduation
ceremony and several receptions in Clark
Sunday afternoon. Among the Clark graduates were several students from Joan’s first 3rd
grade classroom.
Gail Kittelson hosted the St. John Circle of
St. Henry’s Catholic Church on Wednesday evening at the church.
Fain
and Roxanne Geiger treated Marrion and LeDene Geiger to a late Mother’s Day supper out on Thursday
evening.
Last
Saturday, Stephanie Pickrel of Watertown
assisted her mother, Sharon Burchatz in putting up a
fence at the farm for Sharon’s
horses. On Sunday Stephanie and Sharon enjoyed dinner out in Watertown. Ron Burchatz
returned from a fishing tournament at the river in time to join them for
dinner. Later in the afternoon Shelly Root joined them at the farm and redid Sharon’s rock garden.
The
community expresses sympathy to the Joel Montgomery family upon the loss of
Joel’s mother, Lois Montgomery in Florida.
Joel returned from Florida on Saturday and
will be joining his family in returning to Florida for funeral services.
John
Boehnke returned to Brookings on Sunday after
spending the past week at home and attending Stephanie’s graduation.
Jack
and Gladys Berens of Mesa,
AZ and Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended the
graduation reception for their granddaughter, Brigett
Wookey on Saturday at Clark.
On Sunday they attended her high school graduation from Clark High School.
The
Henry Fire Department was called Sunday evening to assist the Watertown Fire
Department with the fire in uptown Watertown.
Earl,
Alyssa and Tierra Rhody of Clear Lake
spent Saturday in Henry. Earl assisted Kelby Goodall with the building of his deck and Alyssa and Tierra
babysat the Goodall children.
A
meeting for the planning of the 125th celebration to be held next
summer was held Wednesday evening in the Community Building
with chairman Francis Strofhus conducting the
meeting. The next meeting will be held on the 30th of May.
Glen
Goodall of Aberdeen
spent the weekend at the Kelby Goodall
home and assisted with the building of the deck.
Pat
and Irene Redmond and Diann Redmond attended the
graduation reception for Nathan Tschakert at Florence on Sunday.
Joel
and Marcia Montgomery and family and Gordon and Loydeen
Van Sickle were among those attending the graduation reception for Lisa (Van
Sickle) Zandt’s son, Sever Griffin at Renner on
Saturday.
