Carol O’Neill and Judy Kos attended the Wednesday Lenten Service and luncheon at First Methodist Church in Watertown this past week.

 

Last Sunday, Joan and Stephanie Boehnke went to Sioux Falls and attended the Distinguished Scholars competition at Augustana College.

 

Eric Bastian and Emily Bastian returned to their respective schools after spending their spring breaks with their parents, Ron and Peggy Bastian.

 

Donna Kittelson attended the Watertown High School Choral concert on Monday evening at the DD Miller auditorium in Watertown.

 

LeRay Swedeen was a Wednesday evening visitor of Arlen Swedeen.

 

Mike and Lola Nelson and Tim and Diane Nelson of Henry attended the Thursday evening performance of the DooWop Diner at the New Life Evangelical Free Church in Watertown. This a dinner theatre event that members of the New Life Evangelical Free Church put on every year and it runs for 4 consecutive evenings. The cast from the performance are also the servers for the 4 course meal.  This year’s theme was “Spinning the Hits” and featured some great music from the 50’s and 60s.

 

Emily Bastian did on job teacher shadowing at the Milbank High School on Thursday. She was an overnight guest at the Matt and Missey Bastian home in Milbank.

 

Erin Bruns from Lake Preston came last Wednesday afternoon and stayed until late Saturday afternoon with her grandparents, Wendell and Alice Bruns.  Samantha and Sarah Bruns of Watertown spent Saturday morning with their grandparents.

 

Floyd and Donna Kittelson accompanied Rick, Vickie and Kayla Burchatz to Sioux Falls on Tuesday evening to watch the Watertown Arrow regional boy’s basketball game against Sioux Falls Lincoln.  The Arrows were defeated which brought a close to the season for the Arrows.

 

Wendell Bruns visited his mother, Violet Winemiller at Wookey’s ALC in Clark.

 

Nineteen confirmants celebrated the sacrament of confirmation at Sunday morning services at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Bishop Paul Swain, Deacon Shane Stevens and Father Douglas Binsfeld led the service which included thirteen confirmants from St. Henry’s and six from St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Grover. Members of the class all participated in the morning service which was followed by a pot luck dinner in the fellowship hall.

 

Laverne Reinhart treated Bill Pickles and Deanna Martwick and Arlen Swedeen and others to oysters at Arlen’s apartment on Friday evening. Later in the evening Wesley and Betty Holida of Naples were callers.

 

Matt and Missey Bastian of Milbank, Pat and Cindy Murphy of Watertown, Ron, Peggy and Emily Bastian celebrated Missey’s birthday with supper out in Watertown on Saturday evening.

 

A fishing friend, Arnold drove up this past week from Iowa to visit with Joe Young.  Additional callers were Orlin Jameson of Wallace, Lois Lien, Garden City, Gary and Kathy Young and Travis Young and children of Watertown and Wayne Blashill.

 

Saturday evening, Arlen, Joan and John Boehnke treated Stephanie to supper out in Henry for Stephanie’s 18th birthday.  Adam and Laci Hartley and children joined them.

 

Mark Soderlund had the misfortune of totaling out his truck on 1-29 this past week.  Mark was alone and did not get hurt.  Mark did report, however, that Arlet appears to be getting better.

 

Myron and Diane Eidsness and girls went to Sioux Falls on Saturday for some shopping and had supper out with Carl and Eevi Prahl.

 

LeRay Swedeen and girls called on Arlen Swedeen on Saturday.  In the evening, Bill Pickles and Deanna Martwick were visitors of Arlen.

 

Maggie Hovde of Vienna was an overnight guest Friday evening at the home of her grandparents, Floyd and Donna Kittelson. She returned to her home on Saturday afternoon.

 

John Boehnke spent spring break from SDSU at the home of Arlen and Joan Boehnke. He returned to Brookings on Sunday.

 

Cooper and Skylar Stern of Watertown spent Thursday evening through Saturday at the home of their grandparents, Ron and Linda Stern.

 

Lola Nelson hosted a “Mug-n-Muffin party for a group of Girlfriends from New Life E Free Church on Saturday in Watertown. Lola was joined by 6 of her Girlfriends who visited about the “Who Let The Girls Out” event coming up May 4th.

 

Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended several of the Class AA girl’s basketball games in Watertown this past week.

 

Travis and Hayley Goodall spent Tuesday with their grandmother, Roxanne Geiger.

 

Mary Upton of Milbank, Kathy Young, Watertown, Mark and Donna Prouty and family, rural Vienna and Jennifer, Sarah, Darci and Tess Johnson were Sunday coffee guests at the Ron and Peggy Bastian home following confirmation services.

 

Mark and Renee O’Neill returned on Thursday from the ABL National Bar and Night Club Convention at Las Vegas.  They were accompanied on their trip by Troy and Sandy Van Sickle of Watertown.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McRoden, Watertown, Mike McRoden, Sturgis, Pat and Irene Redmond, Rodger and Diann Redmond and family, Dennis and Barb Martenson all of Henry, Lisa Martenson, Ryan and Lindsey and Grace Martenson of Aberdeen, Joe Martenson of Brookings and Dave and Carissa Quale and Maria of Volga all enjoyed supper out in Watertown on Saturday in celebration of Pat and Irene’s 55th wedding anniversary.

 

Ron and Linda Stern were Saturday evening supper guests at the home of Cassandra Stern and Brian Varilek.
