Henry News – March 5, 2007

 

 

Weather this past week has prevented people from getting out and doing too much.  School was dismissed early on Wednesday and did not convene again until Monday. Several district basketball games had to be rescheduled and played together with other districts in preparation for state tournament action that begins this week. Needless to say it has been an interesting week and with the amount of snow that we received, we will be reminded of it for several weeks.

 

Ron and Linda Stern were Thursday evening supper guests at the home of Cassandra Stern and Brian Varilek.

 

Ron and Sharon Burchatz, Rick, Vickie and Kayla Burchatz and Floyd and Donna Kittelson were among those that attended the Watertown Arrows and Sioux Falls O’Gorman basketball game in Sioux Falls on Tuesday evening.

 

Andrew Moen and Jade Wood accompanied their Nana, Darlene Thrun to Brookings last Saturday to Andrew’s hockey tournament.  Andrew made the first goal for his team against a Pierre team.

 

Ryan, Lindsey and Grace Martenson of Aberdeen, Dave, Carissa and Marie Quale of Volga and Irene Redmond were Sunday dinner guests at the Dennis and Barb Martenson home.

 

Fain and Roxanne Geiger, Kelby and Toni Goodall and family visited with Louie Gortmaker and Allen Odden of Miller in Henry on Tuesday afternoon. Later, Fain and Roxanne were supper guests at the Goodall home.

 

Eric Bastian, a student at Black Hills State College and Emily Bastian, a student at Dakota Wesleyan College at Mitchell are spending their spring break at the home of their parents, Ron and Peggy Bastian.

 

Calvin and Lois Schoepp were Sunday afternoon visitors at the Morris and Eleanor Van Sickle home in Watertown.  Later they visited with Doris Coyle at her Watertown apartment.

 

Terry and Judy Kos attended the District Wrestling meet in Groton on Sunday afternoon. Their grandsons, Connor and Adam DeJong of Watertown qualified for regional action to be held in Brookings next Saturday.

 

 Linda Page of Watertown and Marcia and Sarah Montgomery and Joan Warnock enjoyed lunch out in Watertown on Saturday. Later the ladies had coffee at the Helen Van Sickle home.

 

Joe Sharp has completed all of his electrical testing and is now a qualified as an electrical contractor.

 

Bill Rasmussen, Andrew Moen and Jade Wood were stranded in Watertown from Wednesday until Saturday at the home of Darlene Thrun. On Friday, they celebrated Andrew’s birthday despite the fact he was not at his Henry home.

 

Alex, Cooper and Skylar Stern of Watertown, Cassandra Stern and Brian Varilek were Saturday visitors at the Ron and Linda Stern home.

 

Toni Goodall, Hayley and Travis spent Wednesday through Saturday at the Kim and Deb Jorgenson home in Watertown in order that Toni could get to work.

 

Monty, Marcia and Sarah Montgomery attended the boy’s district basketball tournament on Tuesday evening at Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown.

 

Friends and relatives of Kaleb Bjerke-Hoover celebrated his second birthday in Watertown on Saturday.

 

Tom, Kathy, Steph and Bridget Wookey and Cindy and Spenser Wientjes all of Clark and Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended the Watertown Arrows and Brookings Bobcats basketball games in Watertown Saturday evening.  Cindy and Spenser were later overnight guests at the Floyd and Donna Kittelson home.
