Henry News – September 25, 2006

 

 

Congratulations are extended to Mark and Renee O’Neill for being named “Retailers of the Year” by the South Dakota Liquor Dealers Association.  The annual convention was held this past weekend in Aberdeen.  Mark was also awarded presidency of the association. Former Henry High School graduate, Doug Borns of Watertown was awarded vice president of the group.

 

Friday night, Joan, John and Stephanie Boehnke treated Arlen to supper in Henry for his birthday.

 

Donna Kittelson attended the volleyball game in Clark on Tuesday evening and watched Clark play Hamlin.

 

Diane and Kailey Eidsness spent Saturday in Sioux Falls shopping and visiting with Carla Guffin.

 

Joel Montgomery and Gordon Van Sickle were also among those that attended the Veteran’s Memorial Dedication at Pierre. They reported they were very impressed with the hospitality extended by the Pierre people.

 

Roxanne Geiger enjoyed watching Tierra Rhody play volleyball in Clark last Monday. Tierra is a member of the Deuel Middle School team that took home the first place trophy.

 

Judy Kos attended the Ramona Dekker birthday celebration in Clark on Saturday afternoon.

 

Jerry and Carol O’Neill spent Sunday evening in Aberdeen and attended the Liquor Dealer’s Association Convention. They, along with Josh and Katie O’Neill returned to Henry on Monday.  Mark and Renee O’Neill remained until Tuesday.

 

Spencer Wientjes of Clark spent Saturday with his grandmother, Donna Kittelson. Later in the afternoon they were joined by Collin Wientjes of Hinton, Iowa and Bryan, Cindy and Hunter Wientjes of Clark.

 

Joan and John Boehnke attended the ECC Volleyball Tournament in Watertown on Saturday at Great Plains Lutheran High School. Great Plains went on to take the championship in the tournament.

 

Hayley Goodall spent Wednesday with her grandparents, Fain and Roxanne Geiger.  Kelby, Toni and Hayley Goodall were evening supper guests.

 

Cody, Sara and David Winnett of Mankato spent the weekend with their parents. On Saturday evening they attended Karing Kapers and watched Sara’s brother, Mark Fox perform.

 

Arlen Swedeen provided dinner on Sunday for the fellows that put up his garage.

 

Don and Rose McElroy spent Saturday in Sioux Falls at the Dave, Becky, Mara and Brenna McElroy home.  They all enjoyed eating out and the time spent playing with the grandchildren.

 

Calvin and Lois Schoepp visited Morris Van Sickle at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown this past week.

 

Barb Hartley attended a wedding open house honoring Mark and Marlena (Miller) Spurbeck in Watertown Saturday afternoon.

 

Danny and Bonita Sharp, Troy and Nicky Watson and girls, Joe, Nicole and Karli Sharp, CeCelia Brownell all of Henry and Betty Keyes of Clark enjoyed supper out on Sunday evening in Clark.

 

Fain and Roxanne Geiger and Kelby, Toni and Hayley Goodall enjoyed supper out in Henry Saturday evening.

 

David Winnett of Mankato, Alec Heustess of Watertown and Issabelle Winnett spent Sunday at the Dale Peterson home. In the evening all of the families enjoyed supper out in Henry.

 

Lynn and Barb Hartley attended birthday parties for Boots Dekker and Pam Dekker in Clark on Saturday afternoon and evening and enjoyed supper with the family.

 

Lois Schoepp was also among those attending the birthday celebration for Boots Dekker on Saturday afternoon.

 

Sunday evening visitors at the Marrion and LeDene Geiger home were Monty, Jackie and Christopher Geiger of Faulkton and Fain and Roxanne Geiger.

 

Kelby Goodall, Fain Geiger, Terry Kos, Lynn Geiger and Teresa Peterson attended the First Responders course in Florence on Friday evening and Saturday.

 

Gordon and Loydeen Van Sickle returned on Sunday after spending the past week four-wheeling at Buena Vista, Colorado. They, along with Jerry and Cindy Jacobsen of Clark took part in the ATV Historical Color Tour. The four day tour group reached heights of 12,000 feet and also enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage. They also reported riding through snow.

 

Enjoying Sunday dinner out in Watertown were Bob and Betty Nelson of Des Moines, IA, Don and Ruth Roe of Hazel,  Jenny and Emily Kittelson and Phyllis Kittelson of Watertown, Albert Kittelson, Gilbert and Joan Kittelson and Floyd and Donna Kittelson. Later, with the exception of Jenny and Emily, they were all coffee guests at the Phyllis Kittelson home.
