Henry News – September 11, 2006

 

 

Wendell and Alice Bruns returned to their home in Henry on Thursday following Wendell’s four day stay at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Wendell underwent heart stint surgery following a heart attack in Henry on Monday.  Wendell is recovering nicely and will be able to return to normal activity in about one month.

 

Lynn, Barb and Jenna Hartley and Adam and Laci Hartley and family spent from Thursday through Sunday last week at the Ray and Esther Hyland home near Ramona.  The assisted with preparations and activities for the Saturday wedding of Lori Harley and Rick Hyland.

 

Bonita Sharp enjoyed lunch with Marcia Hamner of Wheaton, MN on Monday in Watertown.

 

Roxanne Geiger’s father, Louis Gortmaker and Alan Odder of Miller were Tuesday visitors of Roxanne Geiger.

 

Mark Soderlund was taken by ambulance on Thursday to the Watertown Hospital where it was determined that he was suffering from pneumonia. He has since returned to his home.

 

Don and Rose McElroy spent Saturday in Sioux Falls visiting at ht home of Dave and Becky McElroy and getting acquainted with their new granddaughter, Brenna Jeanne.  Brenna was born last Wednesday and joins sister, Mara.

 

Arlen, Joan, John and Stephanie Boehnke attended, and helped at the wedding of Lori Hartley and Ricky Hyland on Saturday at the Ray Hyland farm near Nunda, SD.  They also enjoyed Sunday breakfast and dinner at the farm before coming home.

 

Wesley and Betty Holida of Naples were Sunday evening visitors at the Arlen Swedeen home.

 

Friday evening supper guests at the Troy and Nicky Watson home were Danny and Bonita Sharp and Joe, Nicole and Karli Sharp.  Cecelia Brownell called later in the evening.

 

Doris Coyle and Lois Schoepp visited Lola Alexander and Harold Nipe at Wookey’s Assistant Living in Clark on Saturday.

 

Terry and Judy Kos were treated to dinner at the Bret and Karen Henricks home near Waverly on Sunday in honor of Grandparent’s Day.

 

Friday evening, Shannon, Donna, Samantha and Sarah Bruns were visitors at the Wendell Bruns home.  On Saturday evening they enjoyed a pizza supper with the Wendell Bruns.

 

Danny and Bonita Sharp were among the many that attended the wedding of Lori Harley and Rick Hyland on Saturday evening at Nunda.

 

Dave and Jackie McNeil and family of Warner were last Monday afternoon visitors at the Floyd and Donna Kittelson home.  The men enjoyed an afternoon and evening of fishing. Supper guests of Donna Kittelson were Jackie McNeil, Riley and Jackson, Cindy Wientjes and Hunter and Kathy Wookey of Clark

 

Don and Rose McElroy called at the Harold and Maryann Benson home in Sioux Falls on Saturday and also at the Roy and Kenny McElroy at Renner.

 

Judy Kos attended funeral services for Ruth van Gorkom on Saturday at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown.

 

Arlen Swedeen hosted a supper at the Community Room on Monday evening for Ardis Swedeen, Lorraine Swedeen, Janet Sunvolt, Lorna Larson and Gloria Backman all of Cambridge, MN, Lindy and Lesa Swedeen and family of Watertown, LeRay and Andrea Swedeen and family of Henry and several friends and band members.

 

Wendell and Alice Bruns visited with Violet Winemiller at Wookey’s Assistant Living in Clark on Sunday morning.

 

Calvin and Lois Schoepp and Doris Coyle attended the Immaculate Conception Church turkey dinner on Sunday in Watertown. Later they visited at the Diane York home also in Watertown.

 

 Arlet Soderlund’s mother, Leona Wicklander, and friend, Lucille Pietrasezki, and Guy Wicklander all of Minneapolis spent the weekend at the Mark and Arlet Soderlund home.

 

Fain and Roxanne Geiger spent Saturday in Miller visiting Roxanne’s parents, Louis and Mardella Gortmaker and attending the Miller Thriller, a bull riding and free style bull fighting event.

 

Kelby, Toni and Hayley Goodall were Sunday evening visitors at the Fain and Roxanne Geiger home.

 

Donna Kittelson attended the Thursday evening volleyball game at Clark.

 

Rod and Cherie Jans attended the Courtney Zens and Jon Nelson wedding in Redfield on Saturday.
