Henry News – August 21, 2006

 

 

Connor and Adam DeJong of Watertown spent several days last week at the home of their grandparents, Terry and Judy Kos.  Their parents, Brian, Kathy and Kayla DeJong joined them for supper on Thursday evening.

 

The Henry United Methodist Women met at the new home of Debbie Engels at Derby Downs near Watertown on Wednesday evening. The plans for the annual Country Fair, featuring the St. Francis Choir of Watertown, were completed.  The September meeting will be at the church with Bonita Sharp as hostess.

 

Lois Schoepp and Doris Coyle visited Lola Alexander and Harold Nipe at Wookey’s Assistant Living in Clark on Saturday.

 

Stephanie Boehnke spent the weekend camping with the Doug Blue and Adam Hartley families.

 

Roxanne Geiger was a Thursday evening supper guest at the Kelby and Toni Goodall home.

 

Arlen Swedeen called at the Vince and Marilyn Wencil home in Watertown on Tuesday. Later he visited at the Dick and Elenor Nuttbrock home. Dick is recovering from a recent surgery. Arlen also called on Lindy and Lesa Swedeen and family.

 

Ben Hoffman of Brookings and Shannon Hoffman accompanied their parents, Dan and Teri Hoffman to Fargo on Thursday. Teri’s mother, Marilyn Babcock underwent back surgery on Friday at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo. The Hoffmans returned to their homes on Saturday.

 

Terry and Judy Kos were Friday evening supper guests at the Brian and Kathy DeJong home in Watertown.  Connor and Adam DeJong returned to their Watertown home at this time.

 

Donna Kittelson spent Thursday and Friday at the Bryan Wientjes home in Clark.

 

Diane York of Watertown was a Sunday dinner guest at the Calvin and Lois Schoepp home.

 

Doris Coyle enjoyed Sunday dinner out with Veryl and Sandy Hoftiezer in Watertown.  Later Doris was an afternoon coffee guest at the Lucy Hoftiezer home.

 

Mike and Lola Nelson attended the annual New Life Evangelical Free church camp-out at Memorial Park in Watertown from Friday evening through Sunday. The Nelsons reported ideal weather conditions for the camp-out, catered meal and the baptisms by immersion.

 

John Boehnke attended the Minnesota Twins baseball games on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Irene Redmond, Lisa Martinson and friend, Lea attended the Robinson Crop Insurance Appreciation supper at the Fortin Barn on Saturday evening.

 

Troy, Nicky, Trinity and Taylor Watson and Danny and Bonita Sharp were Saturday evening supper guests at the Joe and Nicole Sharp home.

 

Everett, Joanne and Teddy Berglund of South Shore called at the Terry Kos on Saturday afternoon.

 

Earl, Alyssa and Tierra Rhody of Clear Lake and Fain and Roxanne Geiger camped at Lake Thompson from Friday until Sunday.

 

Arlen Swedeen was among those that helped Megan Swedeen celebrate her birthday on Sunday afternoon.

 

Karen Henricks, Kathy, Kayla, Connor and Adam DeJong all of Watertown and Judy Kos enjoyed having lunch with Tom Kos of Omaha in Watertown recently. Tom was traveling to Wahpeton, ND on work related business.

 

Dean and Susan Olson have purchased and moved into to the home formerly owned by Les and Cheryl Dale.  The Olson family moved here from Webster and have a ten year old son that will be enrolling in our Henry School.

 

Saturday evening supper guests at the Monty and Marcia Montgomery home were Linda Page, Todd Page, Nikki, Craig and Brittny all of Watertown.

 

Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended the Robinson Crop Insurance appreciation supper Saturday evening at the Fortin Barn near Watertown.

 

Ron, Peggy and Emily Bastian spent the weekend in Minneapolis and attended the Minnesota Twins’ baseball game on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Terry and Judy Kos joined Wilbur and Marlys Johnson of Strandburg for supper on Saturday evening at Waverly.  The families celebrated Wilbur’s birthday.

 

Florence/Henry kick off their football season with a home game against Wilmot in Henry on Friday evening.
