Henry News – January 9, 2005

Arlet Soderlund returned to her Henry home Saturday after spending several days in the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls. Mark and Arlet Soderlund are relatively new to Henry as they purchased LaVonne Peterson’s home this fall and moved from the Minneapolis area. Mark was born at Brookings, SD but considers Bryant his hometown and has several relatives there. They are enjoying the peace and quietness of Henry as they both suffer from severe health problems. Mark shared a lot of their news with me so I will share it with the readers. During the ice storm when they were preparing to seek shelter elsewhere, Don and Rose McElroy invited them to their Henry home as they had a wood stove for heating and gas stove for cooking.  Mark said he did not know what to do until Don mentioned black coffee and that was the deciding factor. The Soderlunds had not met the McElroys before but spent three enjoyable days getting acquainted. The day after Christmas their son, Chris and grandaughter, Tabatha arrived from Oakdale, MN and the following day, Arlet’s mother, Leona Wicklander, brother, Jay Wicklander and sister, Colette Kasper arrived from the Minneapolis area for a visit. After several days, they all returned to their Minnesota homes.
